Saipem assigned Saudi platform, Brazil trunkline installations

MILAN, Italy –Saipem has been awarded a new offshore contract under the framework of its long-term agreement with Saudi Aramco.
The company will fabricate, transport, and install four jackets and one observation platform on theMarjan and Manifa fields, off the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia.
Total weight is 3,300 tons. The derrick lay bargeCastoro II will perform most of the activity during 4Q 2012.
Off Brazil, Petrobras has awarded Saipem an EPCI (engineer, procure, instruct, install) contract for the gas export trunkline Rota Cabiúnas in the Santos basin pre-salt region, 300 km (186 mi) off the coast of São Paulo state.
The scope includes engineering and procurement of subsea equipment, and installation of a 380-km (236-mi), 24-in. (61-cm) pipeline, in a maximum water depth of 2,200 m (7,218 ft).
The pipeline will connect the central gathering manifold on the Lula field to processing plant at Cabiúnas in the Macaé district, Rio de Janeiro state.
Saipem’s pipelay vesselCastorone and its deepwater field development ship FDS2 will perform most of the activities, which should be completed by 2Q 2014. For pipe logistics, the company will use a new yard under development in Guarujá.
