Marathon cleared for Alvheim area subsea work

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved Marathon Oil Norge’s plans for manned subsea operations in the North Sea, starting early next month.

OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved Marathon Oil Norge’s plans for manned subsea operations in the North Sea, starting early next month.

These operations concern theAlvheim, Volund, Vilje, and Bøyla fields in a water depth of 120 m (393 ft).

Det norske oljeselskap recently agreed to acquireMarathon’s interests offshore Norway for more than $2 billion.
