GE to supply subsea equipment to Petrobras, Maersk

GE Oil & Gas will supply subsea equipment to Petrobras for deepwater Brazil and to Maersk for use in the North Sea.

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, and ABERDEEN, Scotland – GE Oil & Gas will supply subsea equipment to Petrobras for deepwater Brazil and to Maersk for use in the North Sea. The total value of the combined contracts is $70 million.

GE Oil & Gas has received two contracts with a combined value of more than $50 million to supply a total of 171 subsea wellhead and installation tooling systems to Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras). The equipment will be deployed in Campos and Santos basins offshore Brazil.

Under the first contract, GE will supply 40x MS-700 and 16x MS-800 subsea wellhead systems, scheduled for delivery between June 2011 and June 2012. Under the second award, GE will supply 80x MS-700 and 35x MS-800 subsea wellhead tooling systems, scheduled for delivery between September 2011 and November 2012. The equipment will be manufactured at GE Oil & Gas’ Jandira facility in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

In the UK, GE will supply seven subsea tree and wellhead systems using the VetcoGray MHXT tree and VetcoGray SG-5 wellheads to Maersk Oil North Sea UK Ltd for the U.K. North Sea. The total value of the awards is expected to be approximately $20 million. The subsea trees will be manufactured at the GE Oil & Gas plant in Aberdeen, Scotland, and the SG-5 wellhead systems will be manufactured at the Montrose service facility, Scotland. These systems are set for a phased delivery commencing September 2011.
