Technip to manage Causeway installations in North Sea

Valiant Causeway has awarded Technip a €33-million ($45.75-million) lump-sum contract for subsea installations on the Causeway field development in the UK North Sea.

ABERDEEN, UK – Valiant Causeway has awarded Technip a €33-million ($45.75-million) lump-sum contract for subsea installations on the Causeway field development in the UK North Sea.

Causeway is in a water depth of 150 m (492 ft), around 450 km (279 mi) northeast of Aberdeen.

The contract scope covers engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning of rigid and flexible pipelines, subsea equipment and umbilicals, the latter to be manufactured by Technip subsidiary DUCO under a separate contract.

Technip’s operating center in Aberdeen will manage the program, which should be completed during mid-2012.

Rigid pipelines will be welded at the company’s spoolbase in Evanton, northern Scotland. Flexible pipelines will be manufactured at Technip’s plant in Le Trait, northern France.

Construction vessels allocated for the campaign include Apache II, Normand Pioneer, and Wellservicer.
