HARTLEPOOL, UK – JDR has unveiled a horizontal lay-up machine (HLM) at its manufacturing facility in northeast England.

This is the second largest in the world for subsea umbilicals, the company claims.

The investment is part of an ongoing expansion at the plant to provide increased capacity.

CEO David Currie said: “The HLM will nearly double our production capacity… [It] will enable us to enhance our capabilities to manufacture steel, thermoplastic and hybrid umbilicals for complex, futuresubsea projects.”

Around 70% of global subsea developments now require steel tube umbilicals, the company claims, providing remote control, power, communications, and chemical supply tosubsea production systems.
