GALVESTON, Texas– The current market conditions are challenging deepwater operators to develop long-term solutions for improving and sustaining operational efficiency to control costs.
The 14th annual Deepwater Operations Conference & Exhibition in Galveston, Texas, provides a unique experience for attendees and exhibitors to share, learn, and connect in a forum dedicated to addressing these challenges. The theme of this year’s event is “Sustainability Through the Cycle.”
The 2016 event, presented byOffshore, takes place Nov. 8-10, at the Moody Gardens Hotel & Convention Center. More than 65 exhibiting companies are expected to showcase the latest cost-effective solutions while answering questions about the industry’s challenges and trends.
This year, the conference will open with the plenary session on Tuesday, Nov. 8, from 3:30-5:00 pm. The presentations will focus on new technology and equipment for high pressure and subsea developments.
On Wednesday, the conference gets under way with opening remarks by the 2016 Advisory Board Chairman Jeremy Burford, Surface Engineering Manager, BHP Billiton Petroleum (Americas) Inc.
The keynote address will be delivered by Andrew Meyers, Associate Director (Houston), Douglas-Westwood. He will review the current macro situation and present the deepwater outlook for 2016-2020. The outlook will analyze how the prolonged low oil price has impacted thedeepwater market, with operators considering alternative development options and delaying the sanctioning of new projects, while trying to protect returns on their existing investments in the industry.
Following the keynote address, the morning continues with presentations regarding flow assurance. Eni US Operating Co. Inc. will discuss the first known installation and actual operation of a produced condensate recycling system to reduce water cut in a producing subsea flowline to allow continued LDHI hydrate-treating effectiveness. BHP Billiton will cover a cost-effective flowline gas-lift solution that was successfully implemented last year for the Neptune Deepwater TLP. BP will describe asphaltene management in the deepwaterThunder Horse field.
Wednesday afternoon kicks off with a session on start-ups/first-year operations featuringNoble Energy’s Rio Grande; Anadarko Petroleum Corp.’s Heidelberg IHUC campaign; and Chevron’s Jack/St. Malo. Wednesday’s program concludes with a session on operational solutions. Eni US Operating Co. Inc. will describe an innovative riser wear liner used to drill from the deepwater Devil’s Tower spar.
BP will cover the start-up challenges and lessons learned from implementing a water injection project at Thunder Horse. Noble Energy will discuss lessons learned from planning and executing tiebacks to third-party hosts.
Thursday morning begins with a session on integrity management /life extension. ABS will discuss life extension for continued service of floating facilities. Eni Petroleum will describe long-term lifetime extension and inspecting and analyzing tendon flex bearings. Chevron will cover the early phase planning, timing, and lessons learned in developing a robust integrity management plan.
The morning continues with a second session on operational solutions. Gulfwide Mgt Inc. will discuss the installation and operation of topsides wellhead desanders used to minimize the loss of production when the bottomhole completions on numerous wells failed and sand production increased significantly. BHP Billiton will discuss real-time monitoring and modeling tools for production optimization and field surveillance.
Throughout the event, attendees will have an opportunity to meet and greet colleagues on the exhibition floor, learn about new products and services, and to register for the Hog Heaven prize, a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle. A drawing will be held on the exhibit floor the last day of the event where the winner will be announced.
