Oceaneering International Inc. formed an alliance with Superior Energy Services, using proprietary equipment from both companies to jointly perform subsea well intervention services. These include wireline, electric line, and plug and abandonment activities in the Gulf of Mexico. Access to subsea wells will be through a subsea intervention lubricator system (SILS), designed and engineered by the two companies. The SILS eliminates the need for a riser and will be deployed from an Oceaneering vessel, equipped with an advanced onboard work class remotely operated vehicle system. The system will offer customers an economical alternative to floating drilling rigs or large offshore construction vessels.
