JDR Cable Systems in partnership with Subsea 7 has developed what it says is the first hydraulic flying lead that offers the flexibility of a thermoplastic umbilical with the leak-tight reliability of a steel tube umbilical.
"This design incorporates an all-welded hose-to-coupler interface, eliminating all potential leak-paths", said Patrick Phelan, managing director, Oil and Gas Division, JDR. "It's a giant step forward in product reliability during deployment, carrying on through the product's service lifecycle."
"This will mean significant improvements to the safety, reliability and environmental protection for our customers' installations," Phelan added.
