Oceanteam Power & Umbilical Ltd. has ordered a new vessel.

(Aberdeen, Scotland)-Oceanteam Power & Umbilical Ltd. has ordered a new vessel.

The cable lay, construction, and subsea support vessel will have the ability to install up to 5,000 tonnes of power cables, umbilical, and small diameter flow lines from its integrated carousel. The vessel will be built in northern Spain, with delivery expected by the end of 2006. The vessel will be managed by North Sea Shipping A/S.

Oceanteam has recently merged its IRM and survey activities with DeepOcean, which operates nine vessels primarily in the Norwegian and Mexican oil and gas markets. The merger will allow Oceanteam to focus on the rapidly expanding international power cable and umbilical installation markets. The two companies will work closely together providing a broad range of support services including ROV, survey and route assessment, soil analysis and Proteus II, a 3-D data visualization and management system.

Oceanteam Power & Umbilical Ltd., are focused on three main markets, the North Sea and European oil and gas markets, offshore windfarms, and the international power cable installation market.

The company will also operate a suite of burial tools suitable for burying large diameter cables, umbilicals and flexible flow lines in a variety of soil conditions in depths of up to 3 m.
