WESTHILL, UK – Legasea has secured funding from Scottish Enterprise to assist development of its Shore to Store service.

This involves taking decommissioned subsea equipment for refurbishment, recertification, and potentially re-manufacture and reuse, keeping as many components as possible serviceable.

The projected annual carbon savings, according to Legasea, could be 10,000 metric tons CO2e (11,023 tons). The company plans to invest £1.3 million ($1.71 million) during the three-year project, including the grant.

It follows several years of research and planning involving engagement with various subsea sector operators and service companies.

Since Legasea was established in 2018, it has gained a SEPA waste management license, allowing it to accept a range of material, defined as waste, from subsea decommissioning operations.
