OSLO, NorwayEquinor has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to use the Troll Phase 3 subsea production system at the Troll field in the North Sea.

The installation involves construction of subsea well templates and a 36-in. pipeline, drilling of eight production wells, and a new process module on the Troll A platform.

Troll Phase III (gas blowdown at Troll West) is due to come on stream later this year.

Elsewhere in the North Sea, the PSA has authorized Aker BP consent to use the semisubmersible Deepsea Nordkapp for production drilling on the Volund field in license PL 150.

Production from Volund started in 2008: the field, in water depths of 120-130 m (394-427 ft), is connected to the Alvheim FPSO via two subsea templates housing production wells and an injector.

Lundin Energy has the PSA’s consent to use a new subsea production facility linking the Solveig field development to the Edvard Grieg complex, and to drill the Merckx exploration prospect in PL 981 with the semisub Deepsea Stavanger.
