ABERDEEN, UK – Underwater Contracting (UCO) and Gulfxstream plan to collaborate to cut the costs of underwater inspections and surveys.

One of UCO’s observation and inspection ROVs will be permanently installed onboard Gulfxstream’s MV Viking vessel for mobilization at short notice.

The MV Viking, which has a cruising speed of 20 knots and can operate 60 mi (97 km) from shore, will be stationed at Peterhead, north of Aberdeen, and will be made available to service the oil and gas, decommissioning, renewable energy, and marine sectors.

It is certified to carry 12 people, with space to accommodate client personnel and equipment for various missions.

The ROV, depth rated to 984 ft (300 m), is equipped with sonar and underwater cameras, and can accommodate other sensors such as 3D cameras, laser metrology and survey tools.

Target projects include underwater inspection of marine and renewable structures, search and rescue, and hull inspections at sea.
