HOUSTONMcDermott International has completed installation and pre-commissioning for Reliance Industries’ R Cluster subsea field development in the KG D6 block offshore eastern India.

Ian Prescott, senior vice president, Asia Pacific, said: “Pre-commissioning and ready for start-up was achieved despite difficult circumstances—two severe cyclones during the first campaign and, in the second, navigating the challenging conditions of COVID-19.”

McDermott built a yard facility in India for fabrication of the risers, jumpers, and provision of marine logistics support.

There were two offshore campaigns. During the first, the DLV 2000 completed the company’s first piggy-back pipelay in S-lay mode (18-in./4-in. pipelines) in a water depth of 4,265 ft (1,300 m).

In addition, the vessel performed its first installation of an ultra-deepwater structure, in this case weighing 343 tons, along with various 6-in. pipelines, pipeline end terminations (PLETs) and manifolds in up to 6,447 ft (1,965 m) of water, plus what the company claims is India’s longest dual riser.

The second campaign encompassed installation of manifolds, manifold piles, flowlines, PLETs (S-mode and J-mode), in-line structures, jumpers and umbilicals, and modifications to Reliance’s control and riser platform.

McDermott deployed three vessels for the flowline and umbilical installations in 6,561 ft (2,000 m) water depth: DLV 2000, Lay Vessel 108, and North Ocean 102.
