LONDONTechnipFMC has started subsea construction work for the tieback of the Seagull field to the ETAP central processing facility in the UK central North Sea.

The pipelay vessel Apache II is installing a 5-km (3.1-mi) pipe-in-pipe that will connect Seagull’s production to the Egret manifold.

TechnipFMC’s Normand Mermaid mobilized late last month for pre-lay activities, including surveying and boulder removal. Following installation of the pipe, the Normand Ranger will perform trenching.

Seagull, operated by Neptune Energy, is an HP/HT development in UK license P1622/ block 22/29C, 17 km (10.6 mi) south of the BP-operated ETAP complex, with estimated reserves of 50 MMboe. Neptune anticipates production of 50,000 boe/d.

Gas will head to the CATS processing terminal at Teesside, northeast England, while the oil will transit through the Forties Pipeline System to the Kinneil Terminal in Grangemouth, eastern Scotland.

Neptune’s partners in Seagull are BP and JAPEX.
