LONDON – Independent Oil and Gas has awarded Subsea 7 an EPCI contract for its Phase 1 Core Project in the UK southern North Sea.

Subsea 7 will be responsible for supply and installation of the subsea, umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) under the near lump-sum contract.

IOG was able to confirm the award following recent approval from Britain’s Oil and Gas Authority for the Phase 1 field plan. The company had been working with Subsea 7 for months under a pre-contractual arrangement.

Phase 1 involves development and production of the Southwark, Blythe and Elgood gas fields via five wells with production gas transported onshore through the subsea Thames Pipeline.

The SURF contract elements include a 6-km (3.7 mi), 24-in. spur line from the Southwark platform and another 25-km (15.5-mi), 12-in. connection from the Blythe platform to the offshore Thames Pipeline system; an umbilical connecting Elgood to the Blythe platform; and associated subsea structures and tie-ins.

All work streams are already under way, with the 24-in. (Southwark) and 12-in. (Blythe) line pipe both manufactured and transported to the UK ahead of planned installation later this year. Subsea 7 has started project management and detailed engineering in Aberdeen.
