OSLO, Norway  Aker BP has completed drilling an oil and gas discovery well in the Skarv region in the Norwegian Sea.

According to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate on Aug. 12, the Deepsea Nordkapp semisubmersible drilled well 6507/3-15 in production license 941, 14 km northeast of the Skarv Field and in 348 m water dept.

The well encountered a 115-m oil and gas column in the Fangst and Båt groups. It has since been plugged and abandoned.

Early analysis suggests 1.7 MMcmoe to 5.7 MMcmoe recoverable; the licensees will consider a development via the Skarv Field infrastructure.
