LAFAYETTE, Louisiana -- Superior Offshore International has scheduled for the DPII dive support vessel Superior Endeavour to undergo structural and equipment upgrades beginning the first week of February 2007.

The 81-m (265-ft)Superior Endeavour will be outfitted with a new Amanda GB 45-tonne (50-ton) knuckle-boom crane. The crane will have a maximum reach of 29 m (95 ft), allowing full access to the aft sections of the vessel. The vessel will be able to provide greater generator capacity with the installation of a 480-volt 3600-kw generator for aft deck usage, which increases the vessel's electrical capabilities for various dive, ROV, and pipelay systems and electrical project applications. The Superior Endeavour will also have a completely rebuilt 12-man saturation diving system rated to a maximum depth of 305 m (1,000 ft) and a hyperbaric rescue chamber that will allow divers to work simultaneously at different water depths to 305 m (1,000 ft).

"As a deepwater subsea construction service provider, it is vital to this company to continuously maintain and improve upon our marine assets and equipment, ensuring that each DP vessel can confidently perform for our clients," says Joe Glass, general manager of Superior Offshore International's marine department. "Our continued upgrading of our vessels reflects our commitment to our clients and to the industry that we are willing to put back capital investment into our equipment."
