PUSNES, Norway --Russian Admiralty Shipyards has contracted Aker Kværner for equipment for two new shuttle tankers operating in the Russian Arctic Ocean. Delivery is due between Sept. 2008 and Jan. 2009.
The tankers are being built for Sovcomflot to service the Prorazlomnoye field in the Pechora Sea.
Aker Kværner's package will include bow loading systems and complete mooring and emergency towing systems, with a total value of $6.95 million. The bow loading equipment will provide oil spill-free connection and disconnection of the offloading hose.
Aker Kværner previously delivered offloading systems to the Prirazlomnoye platform, and currently is commissioning an offloading system for the Varanday export platform, also off northern Russia.
