Eidesvik adds to LNG-powered supply vessel fleet

Eidesvik has entered into a contract to build its fourth platform supply vessel (PSV) powered by natural gas.

BOMLO, Norway -- Eidesvik has entered into a contract to build its fourth platform supply vessel (PSV) powered by natural gas.

The contract, valued at around NOK 40 million ($6.275 million), is between the company’s subsidiary Eidesvik Supply and Kleven Maritime.

The new PSV will be a VS 489 LNG type, designed for low fuel consumption, and measuring 89 m (292 ft) long and 21 m (69 ft) wide. It should be delivered in spring 2012.

Eidesvik has an option to build another PSV of this design for the same price for delivery in summer 2012.
