MOLNDAL, Sweden -- Statoil Petroleum has confirmed partner approval to contract Floatel International’s DP-3 accommodation and construction support vessel Floatel Superior.

The initial contract period is for five months minimum plus an optional two months, starting spring 2011. Statoil has further options to extend the contract for operations in 2012 and 2013.

Floatel Superior was built by Keppel FELS Shipyard and delivered this March.

The vessel has accommodation capacity for 440 persons in single- bed cabins and has office facilities for clients. The company says the large payload and deck area, and dual cranes are suited to support new offshore construction and maintenance programs.
