OSLO, Norway -- Solstad Rederi has contracted STX Europe to build an LNG-powered platform supply vessel.The focus of the design will be on low fuel consumption, with precautions taken in accordance with DNV's Clean Design requirements.
The vessel will be able to run on LNG, bio-fuel, and marine diesel oil. STX Europe claims the LNG tank solution provides a higher cargo capacity than other vessels of the same size.
The vessel, which has been designed by STX Europe's branch in Ålesund, Norway, also will be equipped for rescue operations, recovery of personnel, and oil recovery. Its hull will be built at STX Europe in Tulcea, Romania, and outfitted at the STX Europe yard Langsten in Norway. Other details include:
