Transocean purchases newbuild jackup

Transocean has purchased a Pacific Class 400 design jackup under construction at PPL Shipyard for $195 million.

ZUG, SWITZERLAND -- Transocean has purchased a Pacific Class 400 design jackup under construction at PPL Shipyard for $195 million. Delivery of the vessel is expected in 4Q 2011.

The rig, which is PPL Shipyard's latest proprietary design, can operate in water depths up to 400 ft (122 m) on wells 30,000 ft (9,144 m) deep.
