Swiber, CUEL sign agreement for derrick lay barge Swiber Chai

Swiber Offshore (Thailand) and CUEL have signed a sale and purchase agreement for the derrick lay barge Swiber Chai.

BANGKOK -- Swiber Offshore (Thailand) and CUEL have signed a sale and purchase agreement for the derrick lay barge Swiber Chai.

The barge is under construction at the Jing Jiang Nanyang shipyard in Nantong City, China. It is scheduled to transit to Singapore in June for installation of an 1,100-metric ton (1,213-ton) AmClyde Model 60 crane and a 308-person accommodation module. The barge, expected to be available for service in early 2010, is designed with capacity to install pipelines with diameters of 6-48 in.
