COSL commissions two newbuild vessels

China Oilfield Services (COSL) has commissioned Shanghai Shipyard to build a 12-streamer geophysical vessel to be named COSL720.

HONG KONG -- China Oilfield Services (COSL) has commissioned Shanghai Shipyard to build a 12-streamer geophysical vessel to be named COSL720. The company has also contracted CSSC Guangzhou Shipbuilding to build a deepwater survey vessel to be named COSL708.

COSL720 will be a 12-streamer dual-detector giant geophysical vessel powered by both diesel and electricity capable of navigating in unrestricted waters. It will be mainly used for collection of 3D seismic data in deepwater. COSL708 will be an electricity-powered deepwater exploration vessel also capable of navigating in unrestricted waters. It will be mainly used in geological surveying for ocean-bound engineering projects.

COSL720 is scheduled for delivery in April 2011 and COSL708 is scheduled for delivery in March 2011.
