Gulf Marine, Shoiabi form offshore support JV

Gulf Marine Services (GMS) has teamed up with Shoiabi Group to provide offshore barge operation services.

ABU DHABI -- Gulf Marine Services (GMS) has teamed up with Shoiabi Group to provide offshore barge operation services.

Their new joint venture company, Gulf Maritime Services Saudi Arabia, will be based in Al Khobar in Saudi Arabia. The partners are aiming to expand their offshore operations of large charters throughout the Arabian Gulf region.

GMS, established in Abu Dhabi in 1977 claims to be the largest operator of elevating support vessels in the Middle East, all compliant with the latest MODU regulations. Its fleet comprised five modern self-propelled jackup barges and seven offshore supply and anchor handling vessels.

Shoiabi has also been in existence for over 30 years, providing engineering services to the oil and gas sector.

The new venture will provide vessels for use in a wide variety of offshore tasks including well intervention and workover operations; well completion and testing; offshore cranage and heavy lifting services; diving operations; topside construction and maintenance; and temporary offshore accommodation.
