Newbuild seismic vessel Polarcus Asima launched

On Dec. 9, the newbuild seismic vessel Polarcus Asima was launched to sea at the Drydocks World - Dubai shipyard.

DUBAI -- On Dec. 9, the newbuild seismic vessel Polarcus Asima was launched to sea at the Drydocks World - Dubai shipyard.

Polarcus Asima is the third vessel in the Polarcus fleet and the first featuring an ULSTEIN SX134 design with the high class notation, ICE-1A, enabling it to operate in the Arctic. The 92-m (302-ft) vessel is purpose built for the high-end 3D marine seismic market and capable of towing up to 12 m x 8,000 m (39 ft x 26,247 ft) streamers. It is also fitted with a chemical-free ballast water treatment system.

Vessel outfitting will continue at Drydocks World – Dubai, with final delivery scheduled for 2Q 2010.
