Vietsopetro acquires under construction jackup

PPL Shipyard (PPL) has signed a contract to sell an under construction jackup rig to Vietsopetro, the national oil company of Vietnam.

SINGAPORE -- PPL Shipyard (PPL) has signed a contract to sell an under construction jackup rig to Vietsopetro, the national oil company of Vietnam.

Construction work is on schedule with delivery due in 3Q 2010. The jackup is based on a PPL Pacific 375 deep drilling design.
