Saipem wins Kashagan drilling order

Agip KCO has contracted Saipem for the charter of two drilling rigs, each with a power output of 3,000 HP, for the Kashagan field development offshore Kazakhstan.

MILAN -- Agip KCO has contracted Saipem for the charter of two drilling rigs, each with a power output of 3,000 HP, for the Kashagan field development offshore Kazakhstan.

The two units, to be installed on artificial islands, have been designed to operate in the harsh environment characteristic of the north Caspian Sea, and to comply with stringent environmental restrictions. Drilling activities are expected to start between 4Q 2010 and 1Q 2011, and to continue for around five and a half years.
