SHANDONG, China -- Yantai Raffles has mated the SS Pantanal’s 12,000-metric ton (13,227-ton) deck box onto the hull using the 20,000-ton (22,046-ton) crane TAISUN. The drilling rig is the first of two semisubs to be delivered to the Schahin Group.

The next mating is scheduled to be the deckbox and hull of Saipem’s semisubmersible Scarabeo 9 weighing 17,000-metric tons (18,739 tons). Yantai says this will be the heaviest commercial lift ever recorded.
