Hallin signs contract for newbuild Coniston

Hallin Marine has signed a contract with Bina Marine for the construction of an 80-m (262-ft) dynamically positioned (DP2) subsea operations vessel, to be named Coniston.

ABERDEEN, UK -- Hallin Marine has signed a contract with Bina Marine for the construction of an 80-m (262-ft) dynamically positioned (DP2) subsea operations vessel, to be named Coniston.

Coniston will be fitted with an integral saturation diving system, a 50-metric ton (56-ton) active heave compensated, 1,500 m (4,921 ft) depth subsea crane, and high efficiency diesel electric propulsion. It will carry and deploy ROVs, and accommodate up to 120 personnel.

Delivery is scheduled for 4Q 2010. Hallin will source both the saturation diving system and the crane for installation on the vessel. The anticipated total cost of the finished vessel is $51.4 million.
