Converteam to provide La Muralla III propulsion

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Engineering (DSME) has commissioned Converteam on behalf of Mexican drilling company Grupo-R to provide dynamic positioning, automation and power, and propulsion systems for two drilling semisubmersibles, La Muralla III and a second, unnamed vessel.

PARIS -- Daewoo Shipbuilding & Engineering (DSME) has commissioned Converteam on behalf of Mexican drilling company Grupo-R to provide dynamic positioning, automation and power, and propulsion systems for two drilling semisubmersibles, La Muralla III and a second, unnamed vessel.

Since receiving the first order in January 2008, Converteam has been working to deliver theLa Muralla III project for completion in 2009, with sea trials beginning in 2010. The vessel is being built by DSME at Geoje Island, South Korea, and will be used primarily in oil drilling operations within the Gulf of Mexico.
