SINGAPORE – Noble Corp. has awarded Jurong Shipyard a $596-million contract for a newbuild jackup for use in the UK North Sea. The contract terms include an option for a second unit.

The rig, scheduled for delivery early in 2016, will be based on the Gusto MSC CJ70 design and compliant with an enhanced version of Statoil’s “Cat J” specifications.

The enhanced Gusto MSC CJ70 design is said to be uniquely suited for operations over a very large platform or in a subsea configuration in the Norwegian sector.
