SCHIEDMAM, the Netherlands – SBM Offshore is selling for $180 million its newbuild SBM Installer, a diving support and construction vessel (DSCV), to Daya Vessels Ltd., a subsidiary of Daya Offshore Construction. The transaction is expected to close 1Q 2014.
TheSBM Installer is based on the MT-6024 design from Marin Teknikk in Norway and built to DNV rules and international regulations. Built by Keppel Singmarine in Singapore, the vessel features SBM Offshore’s “double-deck” design, which reportedly improves safety and provides more deck space.
The vessel is equipped with a DP-3 system, along with a 12-man saturation diving system capable of operating in up to 300 m (984 ft) of water. A 250-metric ton (276-ton) knuckle boom crane and 150-metric ton (165-ton) winch enables the vessel to conduct offshore construction and installation work in water depths of to 1,500 m (4,921 ft).
