Dockwise Shipping B.V. won a contract from Atlantic Marine Services in the UAE to transport a 6,130-ton accommodation rig from Sharjah, UAE, to Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

TheAtlantic Esbjerg accommodation rig has a length of 62 m, a width of 51.21 m, and a leg length of 86.4 m. Although the Mighty Servant 3 has a beam of 40 m, the width of the transported rig created an overhang of 5.6 m on each side. And because the spud cans on the Atlantic Esbjerg are 3.7 m high, the cribbing on deck of the Mighty Servant 3 had a height of 4 m.

Formerly a production unit in the Persian Gulf, the rig was converted at the Lamprell and Dubai Drydocks yards in the UAE and now meets North Sea standards. Atlantic Marine Services will use theAtlantic Esbjerg to fulfill a 3-year commitment with Mærsk Oil & Gas for accommodation support in the Mærsk fields offshore Esbjerg, Denmark.

After a voyage of 34 days and 10,890 nautical miles, the rig arrived May 27 in Rotterdam, where it will be completed and christened, then transported to its final destination offshore Esbjerg.
