STAVANGER, Norway — Altera Infrastructure has issued an update on its FPSO/shuttle tanker operations.
Last month, Energean Israel exercised an option to continue to deploy the Arendal Spirit UMS for 32 additional days.
In June Equinor exercised a one-year extension option for the Randgrid FSO, which is now engaged for the company until October 2023.
During May the final newbuild shuttle tanker in a series of seven commissioned by Altera, the Altera Thule, started operations offshore East Coast Canada.
In July 2022, Altera agreed to sell its 50% owned shuttle tanker Navion Gothenburg and expects to deliver the vessel later this month for continued use under its new owner. Another sold shuttle tanker, Petronordic shuttle tanker, should be delivered for recycling in September.
Altera completed the sale in May of the FPSO Petrojarl Varg for $22 million to an energy company for reuse as a production facility for a new field development. It also entered an agreement to sell the Falcon Spirit FSO for recycling for $10 million; the vessel should be delivered to the buyer in the current quarter.
Earlier this week, Unite the Union raised safety concerns for crew aboard the Petrojarl Foinaven FPSO vessel with continuous strike action set to begin today (Aug. 5). The offshore trade union has slammed Altera, which operates the vessel, for maintaining a "wall of silence" with the Foinaven that wasscheduled to gounder tow to Hunterston Port Aug. 3. The vessel is expected to reach the port by early next week, according to the Unite report.08.05.2022
