    Karoon lengthens offshore Brazil rig contract

    Karoon Energy has exercised options to increase the scope of the Maersk Developer semisubmersible rig offshore Brazil.

    Mærsk Developer is a DSS-21 column-stabilized dynamically positioned semisubmersible rig, able to operate in water depths up to 10,000 ft. It was delivered in 2009 and is preparing for operations offshore Brazil with Karoon Energy Ltd.

    LYNGBY, Denmark — Karoon Energy has exercised options to increase the scope of the Maersk Developer semisubmersible rig offshore Brazil.

    The rig will drill up to two wells at the Neon Field, in direct continuation of its previously agreed workscope. Estimated value of the extension is about $21 million.

    All wells are subsea completions tied back to the Cidade de Itajaí FPSO vessel. The FPSO has a processing capacity of 80,000 bbl/d of oil and a storage capacity of about 600,000 bbl.
