ÅLESUND, Norway – Rem Offshore has contracted VARD to supply two newbuild construction service operations vessels (CSOVs), with an option for two more.

Total value of the two firm contracts is Eur100 million ($118 million).

The vessels are designed CSOVs for support/maintenance services at offshore wind farms worldwide. The VARD 4 19 design is said to focus on onboard logistics, security, comfort, and operability.

Both vessels will be 85 m (279 ft) long with a beam of 19.5 m (64 ft), a height-adjustable, motion-compensated gangway with elevator system, a height-adjustable boat landing system, and a 3D-compensated crane. Each will have accommodation for 120 persons.

VARD expects to deliver the first vessel from its shipyard in Norway during the first half of 2023, the hull being constructed at Vard Braila in Romania.

Vard Vung Tau in Vietnam will build the second vessel, which should be delivered in 2024.
