    Keppel FELS seeking arbitration over newbuild rig contract

    Keppel FELS has served notice to Awilco Drilling that it will terminate the construction contract for the newbuild semisubmersible drilling rig Nordic Spring.

    ABERDEEN, UK – Keppel FELS has served notice to Awilco Drilling that it will terminate the construction contract for the newbuild semisubmersible drilling rig Nordic Spring.

    In addition, the Singapore shipyard has notified Awilco subsidiary Awilco Rig 2 of planned arbitration proceedings. This follows a letter from AR2 to Keppel FELS raising concerns about the status of the project.

    AR2 denies the allegations in the notice and considers the vessel construction contract to be intact, Awilco added.

    The Nordic Spring is a Moss Maritime CS60 Eco MW design. A separate Awilco Drilling subsidiary has an option for one further rig of the same design.
