ABU DHABI, UAEGulf Marine Services (GMS) has entered a framework agreement with Zakher Marine International (ZMI), a privately-owned operator of self-propelled self-elevating support vessels (SESVs) in the Middle East.

The two companies will work on mutually beneficial cost-saving opportunities and offer benefits to customers through combining the scale of their SESV fleets.

The main areas of potential co-operation are in procurement, logistics, maintenance, classification and repair, and employment and training of offshore crews.

GMS and ZMI will jointly identify ways to pool resources, combine functions, and use their combined purchasing power to cut costs.

They operate a similar number of self-propelled SESV vessels, said to share many key features.

Tim Summers, executive chairman of GMS, said: “Under this agreement we will work with ZMI to explore leveraging the combined scale of our respective supply chains, in order to lower costs and maintain higher operational availability and uptime for our customers.”
