BERGEN, Norway – Due to the restrictions imposed by COVID-19, Total and Odfjell Drilling have agreed to delay mobilization of the semisubmersible Deepsea Stavanger for a deepwater exploration campaign offshore South Africa.

The rig will remain idle in Norway for an unspecified period, with Odfjell compensated by Total during this idle time. At some point it will head south to begin its charter as planned.

Odfjell said the ‘idle’ agreement reflected both parties’ commitment to proceed with the drilling program while providing the framework to navigate the current uncertainty.
