ELLINGSØY, Norway Ulstein Verft has contracted Hydroniq Coolers to deliver the seawater cooling system for a cable lay vessel it is constructing for Nexans Subsea Operations.

Under the contract, the company will supply its Pleat seawater cooling system for the CLV Nexans Aurora. The coolers will reduce temperatures in the vessel’s main engine and auxiliary systems through the use of seawater.

The patented Pleat is a module-based titanium cooler for seawater to freshwater, with design pressure 6 bar (87 psi) and design temperature of 0-95°C (32-203°F).

The DP-3 CLV Nexans Aurora will be outfitted for power cable laying, including bundle laying, cable jointing and repair and cable system protection and trenching. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2021.
