MUNICH, Germany – MODEC has contracted Siemens for power generation equipment for Eni’s Area 1 FPSO offshore Mexico.

The vessel will be stationed in 105 ft (32 m) of water, 6 mi (10 km) from the coast. It will have capacity to process 90,000 b/d of crude oil and to store up to 900,000 bbl. It is expected to enter service in 2021.

Siemens will supply three 34-MW SGT-A35 gas turbine power generation packages with lightweight, torque-tube-style baseplates. All can be converted dry low emissions (DLE-type) engines if required for future upgrades.

MODEC has also specified SIL 3 compliance.

Last year, the company purchased four SGT-A35 gas turbine power generation packages for the FPSO Carioca MV30 for Petrobras’ Sépia field development in the presalt Santos basin.
