JCE Energy has supplied a modular solar power system to Aquaterra Energy for a production platform operating offshore Angola.

The autonomously powered, unmanned Sea Swift platform is powered entirely by renewable energy.

JCE Energy designed and manufactured its equipment to incorporate more than 100 solar panels, engineered to withstand the offshore conditions, including resilience against saltwater corrosion and storms.

The design also allows for expansion to meet future energy needs without the need for a major redesign or disruption to operations on the platform, offering a reliable power supply, even during periods of low sunlight, JCE claimed.

Reducing the platform’s reliance on diesel generators should cut CO2 emissions by 90%, with lower operating costs over the platform’s 30-year lifespan.

In addition, in December 2024, JCE Energy delivered a bespoke modular solar power solution to meet the energy demands of Aker BP’s nmanned installation (UI) during the period before the UI was connected to permanent power from the host platform. The modular solar power package was designed and manufactured to address the specific challenges of offshore operations in the North Sea.
