Ocean Winds marks five years of service at WindFloat Atlantic
Ocean Winds also recently announced that the first wind turbine has been installed at its Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier offshore wind farm in western France’s Vendée region.
Ocean Winds is celebrating five years of the WindFloat Atlantic floating offshore wind farm.
Ocean Winds, the joint venture between EDP Renováveis and ENGIE, has commemorated five years of operation of the 25-MW WindFloat Atlantic project.
WindFloat Atlantic was the world’s first semisubmersible floating offshore wind farm, at a location 20 km from the coast of Viana do Castelo, western Portugal. Its three wind turbines have to date generated a total of 345 GWh of electricity.

Ocean Winds is also celebrating the successful installation of the first turbine of the Yeu-Noirmoutier offshore wind farm.
Ocean Winds also recently announced that the first wind turbine has been installed at its Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier (EMYN) offshore wind farm in western France’s Vendée region.
A total of 61 Siemens Gamesa 8-MW turbines, with blades and nacelles manufactured in Le Havre, northern France, are due to be installed between now and September.
The fixed-bottom development is situated offshore the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier.
Ocean Winds has four offshore wind farms in construction or under development in France, with a combined capacity of 1.3 GW.
