COPENHAGEN, Denmark — The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) opened a nine-week consultation process on June 6 concerning the draft plan for North Sea I offshore wind developments.

Three offshore wind farms have been put out to tender, with the possibility for additional use of wind resources via the production of Power-to-X (hydrogen).

After the consultation, which runs until Aug. 12, the DEA will review the responses and then prepare a summary report, which it will publish with the final plan.

The A1, A2 and A3 wind farms are in sub-area 1 of North Sea I, with a minimum capacity of 1 GW each. The bidding deadline in Dec. 5.

North Sea I extends across 2,210 sq km in the Danish Exclusive Economic Zone in the North Sea, which is about 20 km to 80 km from the west coast of Jutland. The three wind farms will likely be connected to the Danish grid in Idomlund near Holstebro and Endrup, close to Esbjerg.
