SINGAPORE TenneT has informed Seatrium that it plans to start work in June on a third 2-GW HVDC electrical transmission system in the Dutch sector of the North Sea.

Seatrium and GE Vernova signed a five-year framework cooperation agreement in March 2023 to supply TenneT with three HVDC electrical transmission systems for offshore wind farms in the Netherlands with a combined capacity of 6 GW.

Seatrium’s work scope will include engineering, procurement, construction, transportation, installation and commissioning of the 2-GW HVDC offshore converter platform.

This will serve the NWBE (ex-Nederwiek 2) wind farm 95 km from the coast of Netherlands. Formal confirmation of the contract should follow on June 1, after the completion of certain deliverables by Seatrium and GE Vernova.
