TRONDHEIM, Norway  Electromagnetic Geoservices (EMGS) is close to securing its first electromagnetic (EM) acquisition contract for offshore renewable energy infrastructure at a location offshore southeast Asia.

The contract, with a potential value of up to $2 million, does not carry a minimum work scope.

EMGA CEO Bjørn Petter Lindhom said, "We have long held the view that the EM technology has a number of applications also outside of the core E&P industry, including marine minerals exploration, geothermal and site surveys.”

The company will acquire resistivity data based on the magnetotelluric (MT) geophysical technique, which uses natural variations in the earth's electromagnetic field without an artificial EM source. EMGS will deploy a locally chartered vessel for the campaign, which should take place in 2024.
