Huisman, ESD collaborate on offshore wind cable-lay options

SCHIEDAM, the Netherlands — Huisman and ESD have entered into an agreement that would expand Huisman’s cable-lay product offering for the offshore wind sector.

It will combine ESD’s experience in the design of “smart” cable-lay solutions with Huisman’s engineering, production and service capabilities for turnkey equipment.

Since 2022, Huisman has been developing new solutions for cable handling, protection and storage, winning an order earlier this year from Dong Fang Offshore for a 3,000-mt capacity cable carousel, and a letter of intent concerning delivery of a cable-lay system.

The initial focus of the partnership with ESD will be on Huisman's transferable inter-array cable-lay system, designed for speedy mobilization on multi-purpose vessels.
