ATHENS, Greece — Hellenic Cables and Jan De Nul Group will jointly design, manufacture, transport and install four 220-kV export cables for the Polish offshore wind farms Baltyk II and Baltyk III, according to an Oct. 10 Hellenic press release.
Both are under development in the Baltic Sea by a joint venture between Equinor and Polenergia. Each will have a capacity of 720 MW and will connect to the onshore grid via the four submarine cables, with a combined length of 256 km.
Hellenic Cables will design and manufacture the 220-kV HVAC cables at its factory in Corinth, Greece. Jan De Nul Group will transport, install and bury the cables. Connection to shore of the two Baltyk wind farms should finish in 2026.
The two companies previously collaborated on RWE’s Thor project offshore Denmark and on TenneT’s DolWin Kappa project offshore Germany.
