ZWIJNDRECHT, Belgium  Ørsted has contracted the CDWE joint venture between DEME and Taiwanese shipbuilder CSBC to perform seabed leveling and scour protection for the Greater Changhua 2b and 4 wind farms offshore Taiwan.

The scope of work covers the offshore substation and the 66 wind turbine generator locations. DEME will deploy hopper dredger and fallpipe vessels for the work, which is due to start in first-quarter 2025.

Greater Changhua 2b and 4, with a combined capacity of 920 MW, will be situated 35-60 km from the coast of Changhua County in Taiwan.

In August, Green Jade, the CDWE-operated, Taiwan-built offshore wind installation vessel, started placement of the jacket foundations of the 298-MW Zhong Neng offshore wind farm.

DEME also has contracts in its own right for the Hai Long wind farm in Taiwan, and turbine installation work for the Changfang and Xidao, and Zhong Neng developments.
